Meadow 6x6 Paper Pad Album for Country Craft Creations

Hello and Happy Friday!  Today I'm sharing this "bonus" project that I made using left over  paper supplies from my first Designer kit from Country Craft Creations.  I used the Meadow papers that I had left in a 6x6 pad to create this album plus a couple of the 12x12 papers and coordinating cardstock by Authentique.

It's a fun and easy little album to put together. Doesn't require a lot of supplies and works great if you have just a few photos of an occasion or you need a quick simple gift.  I actually made this at a recent retreat that I attended and had no video capabilities so I took photos of most of the steps as I made it.  I 've typed up some instructions below (I hope I didn't forget anything) along with the photos I took.

Supplies Used & Cutting Guide

Your album cover will be 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" with 6" x 6" pages.
  • Medium weight chipboard, cut 2 pieces 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" for the cover and 1 piece 2" x 6 1/2" for the spine
  • Artisan White Cardstock, 2 pieces cut to 8 3/4" x 8" to wrap the cover
  • Artisan White Cardstock, 2 pieces cut to 7 3/4" x 6 1/4" to cover the inside of the album
  • Meadow collection, 12x12 paper, cut 2 pieces 6 " wide x 6 3/8" tall for the inside of the album cover and 1 piece 5" wide x 6 3/8" tall for the inside spine area
  • Meadow collection 12x12  scraps, cut 2 pieces 2" wide x 6 3/8" tall and 12x12 coordinating cardstock cut 2 pieces 4 1/2" wide x 6 3/8" tall for the front and back cover on the outside
  • Meadow collection 12x12 scraps, cut 1 piece 2 1/8" wide x 6 3/8" tall for the spine area on the outside
  • Cut 1 piece 5 7/8" x 6"  for the hinge - you can cut from a 12"x12" cardstock or patterned paper sheet or use one of the 6"x6" patterned papers from the pad.
  • Meadow 6x6 paper pad, 6 sheets for the pages of the album. (You do not need to cut these as these should be 6" x 6" in the paper pad.)
  • Meadow 6x6 paper pad, 3 sheets for the flaps on each page. These should also be 6"x6" size. You will score one side at 1/2" for a hinge.
  • Meadow 6x6 paper pad, cut 3 each 5 1/2" wide x 3" tall for flat pockets
  • Decorations - assorted flowers & natural button twine, cut aparts, stickers or die cuts from the collection
There are three hinges in this album for the three page sets.  Each page set has one flap with a flat pocket.  This gives you space for two photo mats inside the flap on the first page set as shown below.

Page sets 2 & 3 will also have two photo mats inside the flaps but you will also have an extra photo mat on the back of the preceding page.

Use cut aparts from the collection to tuck into the pockets. You can also add extra photo mats if desired.

Instructions for Meadow 6x6 Photo Pad Album

Cut chipboard pieces for the cover.

Use Art Glitter glue to seam your two cardstock pieces together for wrapping the album.
Glue one chipboard cover piece to the cardstock.

Use 1/4" scor-tape between each chipboard section as a spacer.  Glue the spine section and the other cover section of chipboard to the cardstock as shown above.

Miter cut the corners of the cardstock, remove the tape backing from the spacers.  Use glue or scor-tape to attach the edges of the cardstock down on to the chipboard as shown above.  Burnish well.

Cut the two cardstock pieces to cover the inside of the cover.  Use glue or scor-tape to attach these down on to the cover.  Make sure you gently burnish in the fold lines where the spacer scor-tape was so that the cardstock attaches down to the tape so your album folds easily.  Be careful to not tear your paper while burnishing.

This is the album cover on the inside once the cardstock is attached.

Cut the two patterned pieces of paper from 12x12 paper for the inside of the front and back covers. Use glue or scor-tape to attach down into the album cover as shown above.

Cut one piece of cardstock or patterned paper to create your hinge.  This one measures 5 7/8" x 6".  use a scoreboard to score the 6" side every 1/2" as shown above.

Apply glue to the first 1/2" space and fold down on to the second 1/2" space.  Repeat for the last 1/2" space and attach it to the next to last 1/2" space.  This will give you a double thickness of paper on each edge of your hinge piece.  See next two photos below.

You will apply glue or scor-tape to every other 1/2" space.  Attach the two center ones together and the two next to the folded ends together so you have three hinges when finished.  See below.  What you should have is the double thick 1/2" space on the left, a hinge, a 1/2" space, a hinge, a 1/2" space and the last hinge with a double 1/2" space on the right end.

Cut another piece of 12x12 patterned paper to cover the spine section inside the album.  Measurements are given in the cutting guide.

Glue the patterned paper into the spine area, gently burnish the fold lines then glue your hinge piece between those fold lines. Make sure you do not place it OVER the fold lines. The cover should fold up and look like the photo below.

Next select 6 each 6"x6" papers from the pad that you want to use for your pages.  Apply glue to one side of a hinge and carefully attach one sheet of patterned paper to the front side of this hinge.  Keep the paper (page) straight and about 1/16" from the fold line of the hinge.  Burnish to the hinge.  See photo below.

Flip the page back and  add glue to the back of the hinge as shown above.  Attach the second 6x6 sheet to the other side of the hinge in the same manner except add a line of glue to the bottom edge and the side edge to create a top page pocket sleeve.  I do not have mats added to mine
yet so I have no photo of the sleeve.  But below is a photo of the 2 sheets of 6x6 pager attached to the hinge to create a page section.  The photo shows the back side of page 1 on the left and the front side of page 2 on the right.  You will  have an 1/2" gusset between each page set.

The photo below shows how it looks with all three page sets attached on to the hinges.

Next attach one flap to the front of each page set by scoring a 1/2" hinge on one side and attaching it to each page.  Since the paper flap is patterned on both sides, you do not need to worry about covering the hinge once attached.  Go ahead and also attach a flat pocket to the front of each flap as shown in the photos above.  Add scrap strips to the top edge of the pocket if desired for trim.  Also add banners, stickers and small flowers as decoration to each pocket on the inside of the album.

Create a decorative piece for the front cover using matted patterned paper and adding flowers and a button twine bow.

Add cardstock photo mats if desired to different sections and pages of your album.  Mine measure
3 3/4" x 4 1/2" and I decorative punched the corners.

Insert different cut aparts and tags into your pockets. You can even add extra photo mats.

The album is finished!  I've decided that creating a tutorial video is much easier than a still photo one. But when you can't make a video, this will have to do.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask by using the contact option or leaving a comment here on my blog post.
