Scary!

Yep. This card is definitely SCARY!  I had so much fun creating this one.  Lots of details on how I did it but first, I want to share that this card is for the current CARDS IN ENVY CHALLENGE.  The theme is..."Now That's Scary!"  This time at Cards in Envy, the Designers have created some really awesome Halloween cards.  While other things can be  "scary" the theme really applies to Halloween cards.  As always for Cards in Envy, the cards must be an A2 size (4.25" x 5.5") and relatively flat so it can be sent in the mail for a single stamp (first class).  It's a fun challenge and gets you to making cards that you can really mail or send to Operation Write Home for the troops though the Halloween deadline has passed so if you do send your scary card to OWH, you'll have to wait until next year.

Now on with how I created this scary card--first I made the background by using Ranger Distress Ink and foam ink applicators.  I put down Spiced Marmalade (Orange), Black Soot and Seedless Preserves (Purple).  Then I used a Tim Holtz spider web stamp from the New Retro Halloween Stamp set to stamp Distress Embossing ink and then embossed them with Wow Embossing powder which made the spider webs show up as the color of the background ink.  Next, I stamped a Recollection word stamp on white cardstock and then stamped the Tim Holtz large skull stamp over the words.  I cut the skull out with my scissors and inked it with Distress Ink in Old Paper, Spiced Marmalade, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot.  I then adhered him to the card base with glue. Next I created the "Scary" sentiment tag with white cardstock inked with Spiced Marmalade and distressed on the edges. The word "Scary" is from a Halloween sticker set in my stash.  I tied the tag on to the card with some black thread and then added a spider sticker on the bottom.  The result--a nice, scary, flat A2 Halloween card.  Inside the card, I added some Halloween papers from my stash, white cardstock for a message and stamped "Happy Halloween" from the Tim Holtz Mini Halloween stamp set.  I also distressed the edges of the card.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Your comments are always welcome and if you ask a question, I'll answer as a reply to your comment.  I hope you will take the time to check out the challenge over on Cards in Envy. I am the hostess for that challenge and would love to have all of you joining us in creating a flat A2 Card that's SCARY!  We don't give prizes at Cards in Envy but we do award a couple of cute badges for your blog.

Hope to see you there and happy crafting!
