"Wildflower" Inspired by a Song Challenge
Hello Monday! Hubby and I are still away on our "mini vacation" to Matagorda on the Gulf Coast of Texas for some relaxing and fishing, so today's post is pre-scheduled and it's for the Cards in Envy challenge that starts today! Our theme is for an A2 card (flat enough to fit in an envy for mailing) that was Inspired by a Song. I love songs and couldn't decide what song to use and then one evening as I was working on a mini album, I heard the song "Wildflower" playing. I listen to Pandora on my iPhone in my craft room and I like to listen to oldies. It has been quite some time since I'd listened to "Wildflower" by the Skylarks. It hails from way back in 1973! I've always loved the song and the lyrics, here's part of them:
"She's faced the hardest times you could imagine
And many times her eyes fought back the tears
And when her youthful world was about to fall in
Each time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fears
And a sorrow no one hears still rings in midnight silence, in her ears
And many times her eyes fought back the tears
And when her youthful world was about to fall in
Each time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fears
And a sorrow no one hears still rings in midnight silence, in her ears
Let her cry, for she's a lady
Let her dream, for she's a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild"
Let her dream, for she's a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild"
~Wildflower, by Skylark
The prettiest "Wildflower" paper that I know of in the crafting world is, of course, by Graphic 45. So I went to my stash of G45 scraps and found three pieces of paper from the "Raining Cats and Dogs" collection. I used the black and white dots for the background, added an oval cut out of "a lady" and then fussy cut lots of pretty wildflowers from a 12x12 sheet and layered them on top of each other. I finished off the card with a blue bow that I tied on my fingers from Hug Snug ribbon and then one red flat back rhinestone from Queen & Company.
If you have a few minutes, here's a YouTube video of the original song "Wildflower" as sung by Skylark, 1973:

Today is our last day at Matagorda. We'll be traveling home tomorrow and after I get the RV unloaded and the laundry done and hugged all my cats, I'll be back to crafting on a project!
Happy Crafting!
