The Cats' Meow for "Picture Day"

These photos were taken in 2008.  That is Jules above.  He's been gone and at the Rainbow Bridge for 4 years now.  In 2008 he was our oldest kitty.  I took this photo of him on our back porch.  He was always the protector.  Always watching for dogs or cats that didn't belong.  He was not afraid to chase them off.  Before he died in 2011, he made friends with the raccoons who came at night to eat cat food.  By then, he was blind but still got around really well.  But there were mornings when he would be missing and I worried about him.  He would be gone for a day  and then  he would be back the next morning.  I really think he would follow the raccoons off into the woods and then follow them back the next night.  He was a wonderful cat and I still miss him.  Our daughter named him after the author, Jules Verne.  I think he was 17 years old when he died.

The following photos are of a few of our cats, also taken back in 2008.  We still have all of these kittys.

This is Portia.  She is now our oldest cat as she will be 15 years old this fall.  Brandy and Brandon adopted her from a no kill shelter.  She's always been feisty.  She once, as a kitten, attacked the telephone guy by attaching herself to his pants leg.  She also attacked paper towel rolls and toilet paper and shredded them in her younger years. She loves water.  She can hear you turn on water from far off.  And suddenly she'll be there. She likes to drink clean water, dirty water and ice water.  If you have a glass of ice water on your desk or end table, she will sneak up and you'll find her with her head stuck all the way in your glass.  I always say "My glass has been compromised." She's ridden in a canoe and loves it. She loves to go camping in the RV trailer too.  When she sees us loading up, she stays right there by the door or in the RV to make sure she gets to go. She's been known to get in vehicles and go for a ride--the boat to the lake, the Bobcat tractor to a construction job, my husband's truck to the airport 20 miles away.  She sleeps with me most nights and has to have her paw on my hand or arm.  But don't touch her feet.  She'll bite.

Piper or Pippy.  He was also adopted from a no kill shelter and he's our next oldest kitty.  He will be 15 in the spring of 2016.  He's pretty mellow and laid back but if you get on to him about something, he will argue and talk back.  He doesn't like the other cats very well but tolerates them.  You'll find Pippy sleeping in the front yard or on the front porch

Lila is one crazy cat!  She belongs to our daughter, Brandy.  She might let you pet her and then she might not.  She'll let you know vocally if you are not to touch her. She loves to go outside at night to watch and hunt for prey.  My husband rescued Lila when she was a teeny, tiny baby.  Her mother had died at our shop and he heard her meowing and picked her up and brought her to me and Brandy to take care of.  She was so tiny she fit in the palm of our hand. Lila is now 8 years old.

And in the photo above is Quinton, aka Clint, Clinton and Dog.  He's called dog because he follows you around just like a dog  He has the longest tail that curves up over his back.  He loves to hunt and even got sprayed in the face by a skunk a few years ago.  He likes to hang out in my craft room with me, sleeping under the worktable and playing with ribbon and bits of paper.  He meows (a lot) when he wants something and if you ignore him, he will bite your toe!  Quinton is also 8 years old.  We found him as a kitten at my father-in-law's house covered in fleas.  Of course, we had to take him and bath him and give him a good home.

And those are my photos for "picture day" here on my blog.  Cats.  Yep, I love cats.

Happy Crafting and Picture Taking!
